GraphForge
Build a graph, ask a question, and keep what you learn, without running a database server.
GraphForge is the graph half of the Curate Labs stack. It is an embedded, openCypher-compatible graph engine with a Rust core, Arrow results, and Parquet persistence. Build a graph, ask a question, and keep what you learn, without running a database server.
Who it is for
- Analysts working with an agent. No programming needed. An agent or helper handles execution while you ask the questions.
- Technical users. Write openCypher queries and call the engine from Python or Node.
- Teams building agents and retrieval. Put a graph inside your application instead of running another service.
What it does
- openCypher queries. Ask the graph questions in a standard language built for relationships.
- Analyst verbs. Rank, cluster, find paths, compare similar nodes, and search without writing an algorithm.
- Evidence with the answer. Record a claim, attach its evidence, and assess confidence, so a reviewer can check the reasoning.
- Structure when you want it. Start with plain nodes and edges. Ontology, saved analyses, versions, and collaboration are optional later steps.
- Open formats. A Rust core returns Arrow results and stores durable projects as Parquet.
Where knowledge comes from
GraphForge does not read documents itself. Verdant extracts structured text from scans, tables, and long PDFs. The entities and relationships in that text become the nodes and edges GraphForge holds. Use the two together, or bring data from anywhere else that produces tables.
Good fit, poor fit
Use GraphForge to inspect a citation network, analyze dependencies, trace connections in a case, or ground an agent in facts it can cite. For a centrally hosted application with many concurrent users, evaluate an operational graph database instead. The GraphForge docs explain the measured scope and limits.
Where it runs
- Python, from the
graphforgepackage on PyPI - Node, from the
@curatelabs/graphforgepackage - VS Code, through the GraphForge extension
- GraphForge Hub at graphforge.sh, for publishing, sharing, and cloning projects
GraphForge is open source under Apache-2.0. It is pre-1.0, so interfaces can still change.
Three ways to use it
- Open source: install it and go.
- Cloud: publish and share projects through GraphForge Hub.
- Services: have us build and load the graph with you.

XYG draws GraphForge results as charts and network views, in notebooks, web apps, or static exports.
